Week 2 Newsletter

Gearing Up for September!

We have had a busy summer getting ready for this upcoming 2015-2016 school year! 
We have many fun activities lined up and can hardly wait to get to them.  Our building has a fresh new coat of paint thanks to the awesome custodians and volunteers. 
The countdown is on!

We had a very eventful first week of school! We had the best time reading our anchor book for the week--Splat the Cat, by Rob Scotton.  Some of us could relate to the lovable character…  “Splat was so scared of his first day of Cat School that his tail moved with worry.  But by day two, Splat's tail moved with excitement.”  First day jitters can sometimes happen to teachers as well, but we ALL made it through with flying colors! 

It helps when we have fun things to do, like when students got to play ‘name bingo,’ play on new playground equipment, and paint their own Splat the cat!  We got to know our classmates and the different First Grade teachers. We reviewed the classroom, school, and bus rules to make sure we had the best start to the year that we could! J  We are ready for a FANTASTIC first grade year!

Open House/ Meet & Greet

Hi, all!  We're ready to meet our students and their families tomorrow at Open House/Meet & Greet!  Its a new format, and we're hoping for a smooth transition.  We have a neat PowerPoint that we're going to post in case you wanted to refer back to it, or in case you had to miss it.

Can't wait for the new school year to begin!

Welcome to 'Spooner Firsts'-- a blog by the first grade teachers for our first grade families!  We are back at work, eagerly digging into our plan for the upcoming firsties...
